I have made this rose water face cream because I love roses and it keeps my skin smooth and hydrated.
It helps that smells delicious too!
Roses are not only beautiful, but they also have benefits for the skin.
Skincare products made with roses are used to:
- calm redness
- hydrate the skin
- reduce oil
- minimize wrinkles (thanks to its antioxidant properties)
- ease eczema and rosacea (due to its anti-inflammatory benefits)
Roses also offer therapeutic benefits:
In this study, it was observed that rose oil had physiological and psychological relaxation, analgesic, and anti-anxiety effects.

Homemade Rose Water Recipe
Ingredients you need:
- 3 tablespoons sweet almond oil or apricot Kernel
- 2 tablespoons cosmetic grade soy wax or beeswax
- 2 teaspoons emulsifying wax
- 8 tablespoons rose water
- 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil
- 10 drops of rosehip oil
- 15 drops of rose essential oil
- broad-spectrum preservative at 1% (like this one)
I have used rose water and hibiscus almond-infused oil for this recipe, but you can use rose water from the store or homemade rose water.
How to make face cream with rose water
You can choose to use beeswax or soy wax for this recipe.
The difference between the two is that the cream made with beeswax is more oily than the one made with soy wax.
I prefer the face cream with soy because it has a lighter texture.
Place beeswax or soy wax with the emulsifying wax in a heat-resistant container.
At the same time, place the rose water in another heat-resistant container and position both containers in another one with water so they reach the same or similar temperature.
Simmer over low heat until all the wax melts. Add the almond or apricot kernel oil. Stir.
With soy wax
With beeswax
Once the wax is melted, take it out of the heat and use a hand mixer to blend it.
If you are using beeswax, do this step quick because beeswax tends to solidify quite fast.
Start adding the rose water slowly while mixing at the same time.
Don’t stop mixing until the water and oils have emulsified and it reaches the consistency you want (5 to 10 minutes).
Cleaning beeswax from kitchen utensils can be difficult.
I offer a few tips about how to clean it at the end of this body moisturizer lotion recipe.
Now is the time to add the rosehip oil and mix it again.
Add rose essential oil and mix with a clean spatula.
Incorporate the vitamin E oil and mix again.
The last step is adding the preservative and mixing it well so the face cream is protected.
Transfer to a container that has been previously sterilized.
I clean mine with rubbing alcohol.
The homemade rose water face cream is ready to use!
The rose facial cream will last longer if you store it in a container with a lid and in the fridge.
The shelf-life of this moisturizer is 6 months approx.
If you don’t add a preservative make a small amount and use it within a few days, although this is just a guess because I always add a preservative (I don’t like to use preservatives, but I like even less the thought of applying cream infested bacteria on my skin).
How to use it:
The texture of the cream made with beeswax is rich, so I would recommend using it as a night cream or as a face mask for a more intensive treatment.
The moisturizer made with soy wax has a lighter texture, so it will be good to use it during the day or night.
Apply a small amount on the face and neck until it is well absorbed.
To keep the cream free from contamination don’t put your fingers on it, use a clean spatula instead.

It came out runny, what did I do wrong? I am still using it and it works great though. Thanks!
