3 Easy DIY Shower Melts Recipes to Relief Congestion and De-stress

diy shower steamers 1

I have 3 awesome DIY shower melts recipes to share with you.

These fizzies come in very handy in the winter months to help relieve cold symptoms.

I made them especially for my son, as he has trouble breathing through his nose.

And it gets worst in the cold months with a nose that is stuffed most of the time.

So if you have a stuffy nose, need to clear your head, or just want to relax for a few minutes, these shower melts can help.

Once they are ready, I like to pack them in glass containers with cute ribbons and labels and offer them as gifts.

Easy and affordable!

3 Homemade Shower Fizzies Recipes

DIY Shower Melts Recipe To Ease Congestion

Ingredients

How to make it:

Combine dry ingredients and mix well.

Add the essential oils and the colorant and mix well.

Spray water into the dry ingredients (just one spray each time) and keep stirring the mixture as you spray.

This is the best way I have found to stop the fizzing.

Stop adding water when the mixture has a texture like wet sand and it holds together when squeezed.

Now is the time to put the mixture into silicone molds, greased muffin tins, or an ice cube tray.

Let them dry for a few hours.

To speed up the process, place the molds in the freezer until they are set.

When ready, remove them from the molds and keep them in airtight containers in a cool dark place.

Homemade Aromatherapy Shower Fizzies to Shoothe Colds

Ingredients:

Guidelines:

Mix baking soda, citric acid, and cornstarch.

Incorporate essential oils and yellow colorant and stir.

Spray water into the mixture (just one spray at a time) and keep stirring.

I like to use my hands, but sometimes if the recipe has citric acid,

I use gloves. You will know the mixture is ready if it holds together when you squeeze it.

Mixing DIY fizzies ingredients

Press the mixture into the molds, making sure it has an even surface.

Set aside for a few hours (up to 24 hours) or longer if needed.

Unmold and wrap them in plastic or foil paper until you are ready to use them.

DIY Decongestant Shower Tablets and Sleep Aid

I made these shower steamers a little different because they have two colors: purple and green.

I have also added a different essential oil to each color. They smell great and are fun to make.

Ingredients you will need:

  • Himalayan salts (50 gr)
  • baking soda (150 gr)
  • citric acid (75gr) (this one is good)
  • spray water
  • 30 drops of lavender essential oil
  • 30 drops of rosemary essential oil
  • cosmetic grade purple colorant
  • cosmetic grade green colorant
  • molds made of silicon or an ice cube tray (check these ones)

How to make them:

Combine Himalayan salts, baking soda, and citric acid in a bowl.

Divide the mixture into 2 equal parts and place it into two different bowls.

Add lavender essential oil and purple colorant to the mixture in one of the bowls and stir.

Now, add rosemary essential oil and green colorant into the other bowl and stir.

Add water to the purple mixture slowly (one spray each time), and don’t stop stirring as you add the water.

Stop adding water once you get the desired consistency (similar to wet sand).

Mixing decongestant shower tablets ingredients

Push the mixture into the molds and let them dry.

Unmold once they are dry and keep them wrapped and in a cool dark place.

Homemade shower tablets

Follow the same steps with the bowl containing the green mixture.

Once you have the purple mixture and the green mixture ready is time to transfer them to the molds.

Combining shower melts ingredients

Start by filling half of the molds with the purple mixture and the other half with the green mixture (make sure you press down).

Try also the other way around; green first and purple on top.

Let them dry for up to 24 hours.

Unmold when you think they are ready and keep them in an airtight container.

How To Use Them

To get the full benefits of the shower steamers is best to place them away from the direct stream of water.

I like to put them in a container at the bottom corner of the shower, so it dissolves slowly.

Or, you can try to place them somewhere higher, so you notice the scent more.

Once the fizzing starts, the shower melts and releases the aroma of the essential oils to help relieve congestion and other cold symptoms.

I would recommend not using a scented shampoo or shower gel because it will make it more difficult to notice the fragrance.

Sometimes I like to place the shower tablets in a bucket to soak my feet and relax for a while.
