I have made this DIY eye cream with ingredients that are effective in keeping the eye area firm and free of wrinkles.
Since the skin around the eyes is thinner and more fragile than the rest of the face, it makes sense to take good care of it from an early age.
External factors and genetics play a role in how fast the skin ages.
There is not much we can do about genetics but it is possible to delay aging skin by using an effective anti-aging skincare routine.
When shopping for anti-aging skincare creams go for ingredients that boost moisture and increase the production of collagen.
Vitamins C and E, hyaluronic acid, ceramides, and retinol are great choices.

DIY Firming Under Eye Cream
First, we are going to make the base for this homemade eye cream.
Once you have the base, we need to add the active ingredients.
Active ingredients are optional, but they are added to maximize the properties of the eye cream.
Shea butter and green tea are the star ingredients in this recipe.
Shea butter for its moisturizing properties and green tea for its antioxidant benefits.
If you don’t like the thought of using a preservative on your eye cream, I have an easier and preservative-free alternative below this recipe.

Ingredients for the base
If you need any of the ingredients click on the affiliate links to take you to Amazon.com
- 2 gr Shea butter
- 40 gr green tea infusion
- 2 gr rosehip oil + 3 gr wheatgerm oil
- 6 gr emulsifying wax
- 1 gr gum Arabic
- Broad-spectrum preservative (Read the guidelines of your preservative to make sure you are adding the right amount).
Gum Arabic, also known as Acacia gum, is used as a thickener, stabilizer, and emulsifier in homemade creams, improving its texture.
It also has a mild lifting action helping to improve skin firmness.
Active Ingredients (optional)
10 drops of vitamin E oil
20 drops of hyaluronic acid serum
5 drops of rose essential oil
I’m using the hyaluronic acid serum from this recipe. It is made from hyaluronic acid powder and glycerin.
If you don’t want to make it yourself, just use any hyaluronic acid serum.
Let us begin!
How to make it
Get all the ingredients ready and measured.
We are going to start by making the base.
The first step is to place Shea butter and emulsifying wax in a heat-resistant container inside another container with water.
Simmer until it melts.
Add the rosehip and wheatgerm oils and stir.
Make a green tea infusion and let it cool down.
Once it has cooled, pour it over the Shea butter mixture while blending the ingredients with a hand mixer.
Keep mixing until the two phases are perfectly blended.
Add the gum Arabic and mix with the hand blender.
The last thing to complete the cream base is to add the preservative and stir.
If you are using active ingredients this is the time to add them.
In a small bowl combine hyaluronic acid serum, vitamin E, and rose essential oil. Stir and add it to the emulsified cream.
At this point, I use again the hand mixer to make sure that all ingredients are well incorporated.
Transfer to a sterilized container with a lid.
You can use rubbing alcohol to disinfect it.
I used a container of 100 gr to keep the cream.
I like to take a portion of the cream and keep it in a small container for when I need it and store the rest in the fridge.
The texture of the eye cream is light and fast absorbing.
The self-life is about 6 months, provided you keep it in a cool place, have added the right amount of preservative and the cream doesn’t come in contact with water.
How To Use It
Take a small amount with a clean spatula and apply it all around the eye area until it is well absorbed. Use morning and night.

DIY Eye Cream Recipe (no preservative)
Like I said earlier, here is a different recipe for those who don’t like to use a preservative in their eye cream.
This recipe is similar to the one above but uses only butter and oils.
We don’t need to add a preservative because the recipe doesn’t incorporate water.
Ingredients
5 gr Shea butter
1 gr rosehip oil
2 gr wheat germ oil or Apricot kernel
5 drops of vitamin e oil
5 drops of rose, cypress, or geranium essential oil (I have used rose and cypress)
Easy Directions
After melting the Shea butter, add the rosehip oil, wheat germ oil, vitamin e, and the essential oils of your choice.
Give it a good stir and transfer it to a container that has been sterilized with rubbing alcohol.
Place it in the freezer if you want to speed up the setting process.
Once it sets is ready to use.
And that’s all! Very easy and simple.
Use morning and/or night.
