The exfoliating properties are enhanced with the use of sugar and coffee, and cocoa butter provides moisturizing benefits.

Honey has also exfoliating, moisturizing, and shooting benefits, and cinnamon has astringent properties.

Another review looked at 70 articles about cinnamon and found that cinnamon has antimicrobial properties as well as wound-healing properties. The researchers also suggested that cinnamon may have anti-aging properties in the skin.

Many cosmetics containing caffeine promise to eliminate cellulite, but I haven’t been able to find any research about the effectiveness of coffee grounds to get rid of cellulite.

Still, there are a lot of people who believe that coffee can reduce the appearance of cellulite, so there is no harm in trying.

If anything, it will leave the skin smooth and polished.

Homemade Coffee Body Scrub With Honey & Cinnamon

A word of caution about cinnamon in skincare:

Cinnamon can, sometimes, cause a skin reaction or allergy in the form of a skin rash.

Make sure you are not allergic or sensitive to cinnamon before using this recipe.

If you are unsure is best to skip adding the cinnamon.

Ingredients

It is best to use non-brewed ground coffee because it will last longer.

The smell of cocoa butter can be overpowering so, if you don’t like the smell on your skin, you could buy deodorized cocoa butter or use essential oil with a strong scent.

How to Make It

  • First, melt the cocoa butter or coconut oil in a water bath.
  • Once it is melted, add the essential oil of your choice, if you are using one.
  • Stir.
Melting the oils

  • Mix thoroughly.

  • Fill the slots with the mixture and place it in the freezer for 10 or 15 minutes.
  • There are 19 slots, and the amount I have used is enough to fill 17 slots.
  • Increase or decrease the amount proportionally to make more or fewer cubes.

How To Use DIY Coffee Scrub

  1. Moisten your skin.
  2. Take one coffee sugar scrub and rub it over the skin in circular motions.
  3. If the scrub cube is too hard, try to break it with your hands. This can happen when the scrubs are kept in the fridge as the cocoa butter can sometimes get harder than usual. I haven’t had this problem when I make them using coconut oil.
  4. Use a bath mat to prevent slips.
  5. Don’t forget to clean the bath or shower floor to eliminate traces of oil.

How To Store Them

Store in an airtight container and in a dry place.

I find that for these particular coffee sugar scrubs, is best to leave them at room temperature because they get too hard if kept in the fridge.

If you want to surprise someone, these cute coffee cubes will make a perfect homemade gift.

The shelf life is from 3 to 5 months approximately, but if it looks odd or starts to smell, throw it and make a new batch.

  1. I never used cocoa butter before. I tried it in this recipe and love it. Thanks for this simple, luxurious recipe.
I made a half batch and it made 7 squares with about 2TBS in each one.

  2. I don’t use grams so I coverted the 70 grams of coconut oil to equal 1/3 cup. Which doesn’t seem like a lot to make the full silicon plate you made. How much does your recipe make?

    1. Hi,
The mold I used has 19 slots and I was able to fill 17 of them with the amounts I used. You can increase the amounts proportionally if you want to make more. I hope this helps.
      Thanks!
