Homemade Coconut Oil Sugar Scrub Cubes Recipe With Himalayan Salts

homemade coconut oil sugar scrub cubes

I’m addicted to these homemade coconut oil sugar scrub cubes!

Learning how to make them is easy and fun.

These small cube-shaped sugar scrubs are not just pretty but also practical.

I like them even better than your usual sugar scrubs because they prevent the contamination that can happen when inserting your wet fingers in the jar of your regular homemade sugar scrub.

With sugar scrub cubes you only use what is needed one time and the rest is kept dry and ready for the next use.

Another plus is that they make excellent homemade gifts. Just wrap them in tissue paper and place them in a container/box with a cute ribbon.

Homemade Coconut Oil Sugar Scrub Cubes

These scrubs are not as hard as the ones I made with soap, so to keep them from disintegrating (melting the coconut oil) you need to store them in the refrigerator.

How to Make Them

  • Combine sugar and Himalayan salts and stir.
  • Melt coconut oil in the microwave and add it to the mixture.
  • Add the essential oil of your choice and stir.

  • Now cover the bottom of the molds with coconut oil so the Himalayan salts remain in place.
  • Add about one tablespoon of Himalayan salts (or more if you wish) to each of the molds and fill the rest with the coconut oil mixture.
  • Set aside until it dries.
  • Place in the freezer to speed up the setting process.

Once the coconut mixture is dry is time to un-mold and cut the bars into similar size cubes.

As I said earlier keep them in a container with a lid and in the fridge to prevent the coconut oil from melting.

You can also store them in airtight glass jars.

Sugar Scrub Benefits

The main benefit that you will get from using sugar scrubs is their excellent exfoliant action.

It gets rid of dead cells to reveal skin that is clearer, healthier, smoother, even, and glowing.

Let’s have a look at the specific benefits of the two main ingredients used:

Coconut oil will keep the skin hydrated and is especially of benefit to those with dry or very dry skin.

One major benefit of using oils in scrubs is that you don’t need to apply a body moisturizer after a shower.

Himalayan salts help to detoxify the body and boost circulation and skin hydration.

Himalayan salts also help to soothe sore muscles, especially when added to the water bath.

The skin is left revived, refreshed, and free of toxins.

How To Use Sugar Scrub Cubes In Shower

Before using the sugar and salt scrub cubes make sure that you are not allergic to any of the ingredients.

Don’t use it on broken or over-sensitive skin. If you are pregnant, nursing, or taking medication consult your health practitioner first.

For the Body

Moisten the skin with warm water and apply the scrub in circular motions.

I like to insist on drier parts of the body like elbows, knees, and feet.

Since I’m lazy applying body lotion I like to use the scrub after I shower and just rinse it with warm water.

The skin is left hydrated due to the oils in the scrub, so I don’t need to use a body lotion.

For the Face

Moisten your face with warm water and apply the scrub using mild motions.

Be very gentle with the face as the skin is more sensitive and being harsh could irritate the skin.

Don’t use it on the face if your skin is sensitive. Remove using warm water.
