I’m going to show you how simple it is to make these fun DIY Fall Mason Jar Decorations with this step-by-step tutorial.

Before you start making this craft make sure that you have all the materials ready.

Materials you need:

glass jars such as Mason jars (I have used 4 jars)
acrylic paints
a paintbrush
wooden hearts
sharpie (black or brown)
string
burlap
glue
artificial fall flowers

Make sure the glass jars are clean and dry. Have the paint ready on your preferred fall colors.

I like painting glass jars with acrylic paint but you can use chalk or spray paint. Paint each jar with your chosen color and allow the paint to dry completely.

Once the first layer has dried, paint a second layer.

And a third layer if required. The brush strokes become less visible as you keep adding paint coats. I like them because it adds to the rustic style, but if you don’t want brush strokes at all your best chance is to use spray paint.

Cut a piece of burlap long enough to wrap around the jar. Wrap the burlap around the middle of the jar and glue the ends together. This will be the back of the jar.

I have painted the wooden hearts in white but you choose a different color or leave them as they are.

Write the words “FALL” using a sharpie and a ruler. Alternatively, you could use a template.

Insert the twine string through a loop to tie it to the heart.

Stick a small double-sided sticky pad or dot to the interior part of the heart.

Stick the heart to the burlap and tie the twine string around the neck of the jar.

Repeat the same steps with the rest of the glass jars.

Arrange the flowers the way you like them.

Make sure that you’ve gotten any potential grime or residue off of your Mason jar.
Then, let it dry completely before painting.

When you are satisfied with the outcome, snip the twine at both ends and make a knot out of each end of the twine that is hanging loose.
