Make these DIY beeswax lip balm recipes if you want softer and hydrated lips in winter.
It also incorporates natural ingredients such as honey and coconut oil which are ideal to repair chapped lips.
I love experimenting with lip balms and since I love roses too, I put the two together in the first recipe.
It really looks good enough to eat!
Below the recipes, you can find the benefits of the ingredients used to make this lip balm.
As always make sure that you are not allergic to the ingredients.
DIY Beeswax Lip Balm Recipes
1. DIY Lip Moisturizer Balm
This moisturizing DIY lip balm recipe is very easy to make and great for dry and dehydrated lips.
Beeswax Lip Balm Ingredients
- 10 gr beeswax (check this one)
- 20 gr coconut oil (get it here)
- 20 gr almond oil (buy here)
- 5 gr honey
- 0.5 vitamin E (get it at Amazon)
- Dry rose petals
How to make it:
Place the beeswax, coconut oil, and almond oil in a heat-resistant container and in a water bath over low heat.
Simmer until the beeswax and coconut oil are melted.
While you wait, place a few dry roses in the small containers.
Once the ingredients are melted, remove them from the heat and add the vitamin E oil.
Stir well.
Now pour the mixture into the containers and wait until it dries.
Since beeswax dries very fast, your lip balm will be ready in no time.
Ready to use!
This amount was enough to fill 3 small lip containers. Adjust the quantities to make more or less lip balm.
I wouldn’t recommend making the balm using fresh rose petals because the color turns brown. Not a pretty sight!
2. Beeswax Lip Balm Recipe With Shea Butter
This recipe is a moisturizing lip balm that will give you soft lips.
It will take more time and money but on the bright side, these ingredients are health-filled and nourishing, and all-natural for the lip area.
You will need a pot to boil water in, and a glass bowl that you can place into the boiling water in order to “double boil” your mixture together.
If this is not your preferred method of melting down your ingredients, you can choose to microwave them in a microwave-safe bowl, but there is the risk of “cooking” your ingredients’ nutrients and neutralizing them.
You can either pour your mixture into your lip balm tubes or utilize a pipette to make it so much easier to transfer it.
The star of this recipe is Shea butter, accompanied by beeswax, coconut oil, and honey to ensure a more healthful and nutritive moisturizing combination free of chemicals.
You can choose to add in your preferred essential oils in order to have a pleasant aroma that’s appealing and calming during the application of your balm.
Natural lip balm ingredients
- 1 tablespoon Shea butter or deodorized cocoa butter
- 1 tablespoon organic Beeswax pellets
- 1 tablespoon solid coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon jojoba oil
- 5 drops of essential oil (optional)
- chapstick lip balm tubes or containers
- heat-resistant beaker container
How to make lip balm with beeswax and essential oils
Fill a pot with water and bring it to a boil.
Place your bowl on top of boiling water to double-boil the ingredients.
Add in Shea butter, beeswax, and coconut oil and mix while melting.
Once melted, add jojoba oil and your preferred essential oil if you are using it. Stir all the ingredients thoroughly.
Pour into a lip gloss tube or transfer the mixture using a pipette as a safer alternative.
You need to be fast when pouring the lip balm into the containers as it will harden fast. If this happens before you finish, heat again the lip balm mixture until it melts completely.
I was able to fill seven containers with these amounts.
This recipe is for people that appreciate an all-natural and homemade alternative to their cosmetics that are just as moisturizing as store-bought glosses.

3. DIY Colored Lip Balm
Though we are looking to make a tinted lip balm, it doesn’t mean that our concoction has to be without nourishment.
You are going to need petroleum jelly that’s warm enough to be malleable, coconut oil for shine, and Shea butter and castor oil for hydration.
The difference between this recipe and the other 2 alternatives is that this recipe gives us the option to color the lip balm.
Food coloring has many color options for your balm mixture and is safe to place on your lips.
Compared to lipstick (which is another coloring option for the gloss), it leaves a tint of color that soaks into your lips for much longer.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon Vaseline
- 1 tablespoon grated Shea butter
- 1 tablespoon white beeswax pellets or soy wax
- 1 tablespoon carrier oil (castor oil, sweet almond oil, or Jojoba oil are good choices)
- a small piece of your favorite lipstick or a pinch of food coloring
Directions
Place beeswax or soy wax, grated Shea butter, Vaseline, and a piece of lipstick into a heat-resistant container filled with water.
Wait until all the ingredients are melted before adding castor oil or the oil of your choice.
The amount of lipstick or food coloring will decide the lip balm color opacity.
Once all the ingredients are melted pour the mixture into lip balm tubes or containers.
I have filled 5 lip balm tubes and 6 small lip balm containers with the amounts given in the recipe.
