1- DIY Clay Mask For Oily Skin
Research shows that certain clay masks can really help with acne and oily skin.
If you have oily skin, then you’ll want a clay mask that is able to draw out the oil and impurities such as blackheads from the skin.
A deep pore cleansing mask will get right down into the follicle and pull out dead skin cells and oil, which may be blocking the pore.
This mask is chemical-free and gentle on sensitive skin.
For those with oily skin, a mix of green clay and essential oils can help to calm down the skin and prevent excessive oiliness.
You will need:
- green clay (one tablespoon)
- distilled water (1 tbsp)
- 1 tsp jojoba oil or apricot kernel oil
- 3 drops of geranium essential oil
How to make it:
Mix jojoba or apricot oil with geranium essential oil.
Apricot kernel/jojoba oil moisturizes the skin and geranium essential oil has anti-inflammatory properties.
Mix the oils in with the green clay.
Add a few drops of distilled water if needed.
Mix together until the mask has a nice and spreadable consistency.
Use your hands or a spreader to apply the mask evenly over your face and neck.
Allow the mask to work for 10-15 minutes until it is dry.
You should be able to feel the mask tighten up.
When it is completely dry rinse off the mixture with plenty of warm water.
If there is anything left, massage your hands for a couple of minutes and rinse with warm water.
Don’t forget to apply hand cream.
Once you have rinsed off this clay mask you should immediately be able to see some good results.
Your skin will feel a lot less oily as the clay has pulled it away from the skin and pores.
You may see spots on the mask where the oil has been drawn out. This is a visible sign that the clay mask really works and is extremely satisfying!
2. Homemade Mask For Dry Skin

You will want to introduce some moisture to the skin, to prevent flakiness and potential itchiness that dry skin causes.
A mask with a pink clay base is a perfect gentle clay for sensitive and dry skin.

3. DIY Rose Clay Face Mask Recipe
Using rose clay when making a face mask creates a soothing and hydrating treatment for your skin.
Not only does the rose smell lovely, but its hydrating properties make it a relaxing and cooling treat.
A rose mask is excellent if you have sensitive or irritated skin, such as those with acne or rosacea.
This mask will help to reduce inflammation and redness for these conditions and using the mask a few times a week will show improved results over time.
It is also an excellent mask to reduce the appearance of acne scars.
You will need:
- 1 tsp pink clay
- oatmeal or ground oats (one teaspoon)
- 2 tablespoons rosewater (buy it here or make your own)
- 1 tsp powdered rose petals
- 5 drops of rose essential oil
- 5 to 10 drops of rosehip oil (totally optional)
Directions
Measure out the oatmeal and pink clay and mix them together until they are thoroughly combined.
Next, add powdered rose petals and mix together well.
I have made my own rose petal powder with dried rose petals and a coffee grinder.
Now, throw in 2 tablespoons of rose water and the essential oil and mix well.
This is the time to add rosehip oil if you are using it.
This should create a nice spreadable consistency like a paste.
You can add water/extra clay until it has reached a nice consistency to spread on your face.
Spread the mask evenly across your face and neck using clean hands or a spreader.
Avoid sensitive areas of the face and make sure to get a nice even layer.
Allow the mask to sit on the face for 10-15 or until it is mostly dry.
If you have any leftover product use it on your hands.
Leave it for one or two minutes and remove it using warm water. It is important to apply hand cream if you have dry or mature skin.
Wash off the mask with warm water until the whole mask has been washed from your face.
This mask is really fantastic for dry and sensitive skin. Its soothing properties create a cooling effect, soothe skin irritation, and reduce skin redness/inflammation.

Extra Tips
It is recommended that you use these clay masks no more than 1 or 2 times per week.
Although they have excellent cleansing properties, over-usage can result in the over-drying out of the skin.
If you have naturally dry skin, this will only make the problem worse and if you have oily skin then the pores will compensate for the dryness by producing extra oil.
Using these face masks sparingly will yield the best results for your skin.
