5 DIY Face Mask For Glowing Skin
Pollution, stress, sun overexposure, lack of sleep, and junk food are some of the factors contributing to your dull and lackluster skin.
To restore a natural glow to the skin, try one of these DIY brightening face masks, made mostly with natural ingredients.
1. DIY Vitamin C Powerhouse Mask
Skincare concerns: Uneven skin tone with signs of hyper-pigmentation and texture. Use it only at night.
Ingredients:
- Aloe Vera gel from the plant or organic (2 tablespoons)
- 2 tsp Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic acid) power (cosmetic use)
Directions:
Stir the two ingredients together in a small mixing bowl.
These two ingredients can be difficult to mix, especially when using fresh aloe vera from the plant.
If you find it difficult to mix by hand, is best to use a handheld stick blender, which is great to mix small amounts.
Apply the mixture evenly across your entire face, avoiding your eyes and mouth, using your hands or a face mask application brush.
Allow the mask to sit for 10 minutes.
Rinse the mask off with warm water and pat your face dry.
Note: This mask could make your skin itch or red, so I wouldn’t recommend it for sensitive skin.
Make sure you are not allergic to these ingredients.
Frequency: Once or twice a week.
Top Skin Benefits
This face mask epitomizes the concept of less is more when it comes to your skincare routine.
There is a holy-grail antioxidant for brighter skin, and it is vitamin C.
This mask is all about freshness and quality over quantity.
The secret of vitamin C is that it is most effective when it is in a potent form (i.e. be wary of a vitamin C mask that has been sitting out on display at a store for a long time).
The DIY Vitamin C Powerhouse Mask combines just one natural ingredient that is complementary to vitamin C, Aloe Vera, with a potent form of the illuminating vitamin.
These two work together to seriously fade dark spots and improve your skin’s natural regeneration process.
It should be noted that the science behind this is real, as these ingredients inhibit the enzyme that drives pigmentation and leads to melanin accumulation on your face.
2. DIY Anti-Aging Glow Mask
Skincare concerns: Signs of sun damage and wrinkles or fine lines.
Ingredients:
- Green tea powder (1 tsp) (I’m using matcha green tea powder)
- All-natural thick Greek yogurt (1 or 2 tbsp)
- Lavender essential oil (3 or 4 drops)
Instructions:
Mix green tea powder with enough water to create a mask-like consistency.
Combine the green tea mixture with Greek yogurt in a small bowl.
Add lavender essential oil and Greek yogurt until your mask has a smooth, paste-like consistency.
Apply the mask to your face and neck for 20 minutes.
Wash with warm water.
Frequency: Once per week.
At-Home Skin Brightening Mask Benefits
We’ve all heard that it is important to prevent sun damage with serums and consistent application of a strong SPF, but what if you have pre-existing damage from years of being less than responsible in the sun?
You are in luck, as this DIY Anti-Aging Glow Mask has a high-impact ingredient list that will target your biggest aging skin concerns.
The real star in this mask is Green tea extract powder.
Green tea extracts contain many anti-aging properties, particularly because the Polyphenols in green tea mimic really potent antioxidants that reverse sun damage.
Add in the lavender oil, proven to help lighten skin and reduce wrinkles, and you have an excellent, natural mask to lighten and lift your complexion.

Avocado hydrates, honey provides anti-inflammatory properties, and the tea adds illuminating power and a more mask-like consistency.
4. Oatmeal Face Mask For Glowing Skin
Skin care concerns: Dull skin, blackheads, and oily skin.
